Magnolia Unka-Wool is a senior associate with Olthius Kleer Townshend LLP practicing in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.   Magnolia is of Chipewyan Dene ancestry and is a member of Deninu K’ue First Nation in the Northwest Territories.  Magnolia was called to the bar in Alberta and Northwest Territories in 2009 and in Nunavut in 2014.

Magnolia joined OKT LLP in March 2017 and prior to this she practiced for 7 years at one of Canada’s largest western and northern business law firms in Yellowknife.  Magnolia articled at an Aboriginal Law firm in Alberta and stayed on as a practicing lawyer for one year following articles before moving north to Yellowknife. 

Magnolia has represented close to 300 residential school claimants over the past 8 years traveling throughout the Northwest Territories, including parts of Alberta, meeting with clients and attending hearings.  Magnolia also has experience in general litigation, wills and estates and family law.

Magnolia obtained a law degree in 2008 from the University of British Columbia and her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta in 2005 majoring in Native Studies. 

Magnolia is a member of the Indigenous and Canadian Bar Associations.  Magnolia was a member of the 2016 Truth and Reconciliation Commission Joint Working Group for the Law Society of the Northwest Territories and the Canadian Bar Association NWT Branch.
