Rhea Murti recently completed her second year at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. Rhea spent this past year working at Aboriginal Legal Services as an Intake Worker and Research Assistant. In law school, Rhea also serves as a Senior Editor on the Indigenous Law Journal, and has written about Indigenous fishing rights in the International Human Rights Program’s ‘Rights Review’.
Rhea has also participated in the Anishinaabe Law Camp led by Professor John Borrows on the Chippewas of Rama Mnjikaning First Nation.
Prior to law school, Rhea completed a Bachelor of Arts & Science at McMaster University. During her undergrad,she served as Co-Chair of the McMaster Indigenous Health Movement, through which she helped to initiate partnerships with local Indigenous community organizations and host a conference on Anti-Indigenous Racism in Healthcare.
Rhea's undergraduate thesis examined the sentencing of Indigenous peoples in Canada. She is passionate about criminal justice and addressing the Indigenous over-incarceration crisis.
Following graduation from law school, Rhea will clerk at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
