OKT is very excited to announce that, commencing January 1, 2018, Sara Mainville has been admitted to the partnership!
Sara joined OKT in 2016 as a senior associate after many years of working for Indigenous communities, both as a lawyer and, for her own community of Couchiching First Nation, as an elected council member and Chief. Sara is recognized for her understanding of Anishinaabe law and the role of inherent jurisdiction in reconciling Indigenous societies place in Canadian law. At OKT she has worked closely with territorial governments and First Nation organizations on policy development and legislative reform and on finding a place for Indigenous law in the Canadian legal system. For more on Sara, please see her bio here.
The partners at OKT are thrilled to continue working with Sara and look forward to her contributions to shaping the firm as we continue to grow.
Renée Pelletier, Managing Partner
