On-Reserve Development
We understand the unique issues involved in operating businesses on reserve. Our deep involvement with and advocacy for First Nations, including in negotiations with the federal government, makes us particularly well suited to guide the on-reserve land designation process, associated commercial lease (and sub-lease) negotiations, and issues arising from the federal lands management manual guiding on-reserve business development. We deal daily with threshold tax and employment issues associated with on-reserve businesses and frequently lead training seminars of other Aboriginal law practitioners pertaining to on-reserve economic development, most recently in association with the Osgoode Hall Professional Development Intensive Course “Economic Development On-Reserve” led by Nancy Kleer.
