Aashish Oberoi is an Associate with OKT. He works with the firm’s Toronto and Yellowknife offices.
Prior to joining OKT, Aashish advised on matters related to Aboriginal law, energy law, natural resources and economic development in both Ontario and the Northwest Territories. He has experience in assisting with the development of legislation, in managing litigation and in advising on the co-management of land.
Aashish received his J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School. He worked at the Community and Legal Aid Services Program, and assisted low income clients in administrative law matters. He also served as a board member for the legal aid clinic, and was awarded CLASP’s leadership award for advancing its mission of achieving social justice through education, advocacy and community.
During law school, Aashish was part of student government, sat on the school’s Admissions Committee and participated in an Anishinaabe law camp with the Mnjikaning (Rama) First Nation. He was awarded the Dean's Gold Key for outstanding contributions to the law school upon graduation.
Prior to pursuing a legal career, Aashish worked at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario and advised elected officials. He also interned at the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance in Stockholm, Sweden.
Aashish is called to the Bar in Ontario and the Northwest Territories.
