Benjamin Brookwell is an associate at OKT. His practice focuses on litigation and negotiation in the areas of Aboriginal and treaty rights, the duty to consult and accommodate, and environmental issues.

Prior to joining OKT,  Benjamin practiced at a boutique litigation firm in Toronto. He has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Justice.

Benjamin graduated from the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law in 2014. Before attending law school, he earned a Master of Arts in Political Science from York University and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Anthropology from McMaster University.

In law school, Benjamin worked to promote international human rights and conducted legal research for Amnesty International and their campaign to give indigenous peoples a voice when governments or corporations take action that affects indigenous lands and livelihood. He also engaged in research to explore the Crown’s duty to consult and accommodate in the context of municipal decision making.

Benjamin is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, Advocacy Society, Ontario Bar Association, and Canadian Bar Association.
